Due to mass production people find it more difficult to find products that fully display their own identity. As a result consumers search for products that they can adapt to their personal preferences.
This (memory) chair is an empty frame, but if you fill it with different cushions it forms a unique and personal chair. The frame is bought separately and you can collect a whole variety of different cushions from example holidays, made from your old baby blanket or that special one you got from a dear friend; cushions that have special memories to you. This design is an example of the trend Transcreation, where the consumer adds their own personal finishing touch to a design so that the value of the product becomes more meaningful to oneself. Self-expression and products with personal meaning play a big role in modern society.
You can visit the memory chair, and maybe start creating your own, at Hall 9.0 Booth D.20 here at Ambiente!
