Trend: Raw by Nature
For a long time we’ve been adapting natural sources and materials to our human needs. We would cut, shape and process them the way we wanted to in order to use them to fulfil our desires. Aglow, a company from India takes a different approach; in these ‘Molten Metal Meets Wood’ tables, man-made materials adapts to the shape created by nature instead of the other way around.
These tables are made of a tree trunk with an aluminium detail. The molten aluminium is poured into the already existing hole inside the bole. The molten substance flows into the cracks and hereby emphasizes the natural and organic shape of the tree and its’ imperfection. Also, the contrast between the two materials, aluminium and wood, enhances the natural quality of the tree trunk.
This fits the trend ‘Raw by Nature’, because the naturally created shapes are appreciated and even accentuated by the aluminium. Instead of adjusting the natural material to our wishes, we follow its natural shapes and even enhance it. Sometimes letting go of the control and just following can lead to beautiful surprizes!
