In our modern society, innovation is what everyone is looking for (Wetenschapsagenda, 2016). But products do not need to be completely new to be innovative. Looking back at classics from a distant past is something that can be used as inspiration to create new designs. This goes further than the usual throwbacks on a regular Thursday. Designers are re-designing and improving classics that are matching the current zeitgeist with new techniques that were not available before. Thereby they are creating classics with a modern interpretation. By doing so, artists are re-defining authenticity by creating something new out of something old. Creating a new form of innovation, as well as recognition for older cultures. In a world where everything is constantly moving forward, it is good to look back once in a while.
